In the preservation industry since 1985

The Marsden Family first became involved in the preservation industry in 1985, one month before current Managing Director Neil Marsden Jnr was even born!

Neil Marsden Snr started trading as Marsden Preservation and firmly established the family name over the next 31 years. A construction division was formed.

In 2016, Neil Snr left the family business to head up a brand new training scheme through the PCA. Neil Jnr made the decision to go back to basics with Marsden Damp Services Ltd, taking the focus back to the core specialist work, and closing the construction division.

Neil is very proud to be able to continue in the industry under the family name, and looks forward to taking the company from strength to strength. There are currently 12 employees who carry out all of our specialist work, along with a network of trusted sub contractors who assist with plumbing, electrics etc.

The focus is now on our core business of property preservation, providing a first class service in damp proofing, timber treatment, below ground waterproofing, condensation control, water ingress, and wall ties. We continue to build our reputation on trust. If we earn our customers trust, with our absolute honesty at all times, then we gain more and more referrals, helping us grow.

Our Mission Statement – “To provide a service you can trust”

All of our surveyors have at least 10 years experience and all have the CSRT qualifications. All of our site technicians have years of experience and have been trained to the very highest levels. Our damp proofing technicians have all been awarded PCAQT status.

Meet the team

Neil Marsden

Managing Director

Neil’s family have been in the industry for over 30 years, and have established the Marsden name as well respected brand. Neil himself has been carrying out surveys for nearly 18 years, carrying out somewhere in the region of 10,000 surveys in that time. Neil is regularly invited to host CPD seminars for RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and has worked with BBC and ITV on industry related programmes.

Lynsey Rutherford

Finance Manager

Lynsey has been with us since 2016 and slotted in so well it was like she had been here for years. Lynsey has completely overhauled the financial side of our company, playing a vital role in the continued success of the company. Her work ethic and attention to detail is exceptional and a real benefit to the company.

Laura McLeod

Office Administrator

Laura manages our office, admin and business matters. Laura joined us in 2020 and has very quickly become an important part of the team. She is also usually the first point of contact that anyone calling our company will have, and her friendly, enthusiastic personality means she is very popular with our customers.

The technicians…

We have a team of highly skilled technicians. Each new technician is placed on a trial with us, to ensure they are up to the high standard we expect before making employment permanent.

Martin is part of the furniture. He has worked with us for over 10 years and is very highly skilled and can turn his hand to just about everything.

Lloyd joined the team in 2018 and works with Martin, learning many of the valuable skills that he can carry forward for years to come. He currently leads our general construction division and is responsible for most of the work you can see on the website that’s done in that area.

Martin and Lloyd’s most valuable skills are their structural waterproofing, with many of our showcase jobs featured on that section of our website, also credited to them.

Colin is our lead plasterer and came to us with many years experience. We have complete trust in him to go out every day and turn out work of the highest quality. He is very well liked by our customers due to the high level of care and respect he treats their homes with on every occasion. Mark came to us with Colin and is continuing to develop his skills which will be an asset to our company for many years.

There are others in the team who are continuing to establish themselves as valuable members and gain the experience and skills that mean the future is bright for our staff.

We have several other staff members who can be called upon when needed, who we have worked with for many years and we can rely on to turn out an exceptional job.

Extreme care is taken when employing new members of staff, not only must they have the right skills, but most importantly, they must have the right attitude, and fit in with our company’s vision.

Property Care Association

Neil strongly believes in the importance of PCA membership as it truly shows that our company is of the highest quality and meets the strict criteria which every good company should aim to achieve.
